A fully enclosed CoreXY 3D printer with a 250 mm³ build volume, the Kobra S1 Combo offers strong value — especially when paired with the 4-port ACE filament changer system. Adding further utility, the ACE also functions as a filament dryer, similar in concept to Bambu Lab’s AMS 2. A second ACE unit can be added for 8-colour printing.
By comparison, around $700 from other brands typically buys an open-frame bedslinger, such as the Creality Hi CFS Combo, the Bambu Lab A1 Combo, or the smaller Flashforge Adventurer 5X, as well as the Elegoo Centauri Carbon — none of which include a filament-drying system.
The Qidi Q2 Combo offers a drying filament changer but retails at $999.
If you want to check it out in person, Jaycar stocks the printer and still has it listed at the original inflated RRP of $1,199.
You can compare to the Elegoo Carbon Centauri at $699. The first thing you will notice is the acrylic door on the Kobra S1 instead of the tempered glass doors found on other printers.
